Dear Sir/Madam,

Since 1954, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) bestows the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award to an individual, group, or organization in recognition of extraordinary and dedicated service to refugees. The Award consists of a commemorative medal and a 100,000 USD monetary prize, donated by the governments of Norway and Switzerland, to begin a project in consultation with UNHCR to assist refugees.

We would like to request your assistance in identifying deserving candidates for the 2013 Nansen Refugee Award. Have you come across such extraordinary humanitarians during your field work and research? Please help us to publicly recognize those doing inspiring work on behalf of refugees, displaced, or stateless people.

The best candidates are those who have gone beyond the call of duty, who have demonstrated perseverance and courage, and who have personally, directly and significantly helped forcibly displaced people.

We are pleased to announce that nominations for the 2013 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award are underway. To nominate, visit http://www.unhcr.org/nansen .

Nominations must be submitted by email to [log in to unmask] by 25 January 2013. Current or former UNHCR staff are not eligible. Self-nominations are strongly discouraged.

For questions regarding the nominations process, email the Nansen Refugee Award Secretariat at [log in to unmask] .

Thank you again for your support of the Nansen Refugee Award programme.

Best regards,
The Nansen Refugee Award Programme Secretariat
