Did everyone see the email I sent from JCQ (Chief Cheese) to say that his staff and the Boards were talking rubbish and statements can transfer between centres? Copy attached.

He also has said "If your FE Exams Network Group ever meet up in person do let me know and I would happily come along and brief them on the JCQ regulations for 2012/13."
Maybe he will be at the RTA conference in Dec or AoC in Feb?!?

Is anyone going to the RTA conference on 5/12/12 in London? They are talking about JCQ Pink Booklet and changes in regs there. So I have a big long list of complaints....oops questions already!

Thank you so much guys, it's reassuring to know we are all in the same boat! We have recently had a meeting to decide the best way forward for precisely the reasons everyone is raising. It was decided that Exams is here to process the data, not analyse and interpret the results as we do not have that skill set. We are now also in the process of designing a form that learning support will complete so that we can bash the applications in according to the answers they have given.

Thanks,

I totally agree with you Nicola, in fact I am now insisting that when I make the online application that the SENCO is beside me, my reasoning is that I haven't been trained to understand or analyse these test results. Your suggestion that the Senco's apply is good, but would have difficulties with ours as she takes no notice of the deadlines with me breathing down her neck so if it was left to her I would get the information on the day of the examination (slight exaggeration but you get the idea!)

Hi Everyone
I don't know if everyone feels the same but I am finding these Access arrangements are getting more and more complex to administer.
I applied for an application online a few days ago and noticed the new questions about painting the picture of need. I said no to all of these because I didn't have evidence and it still approved the application!
I am beginning to wonder whether it should be the senco's applying on line rather than exams officers. What does everyone else think?

Is this statement any where in JCQ booklet.
When we ask Edexcel they said we could use them from the schools that was why they are done for 26 months.

Access arrangements do not transfer from one institution to another - even if a student has always had special arrangements at school these arrangements do not 'transfer' to Oaklands.

Subject: Access arrangements

Hi

Tried to put an application through the access arrangments online yesterday and found that there are new questions that have to be answered:

Can a detailed picture of need be painted which shows the JCQ Inspector the requirement is part of the candidates normal way of working in the centre

Can a substantial and comprehensive body of evidence be presented which shows the requirement is the candidates normal way of working in the centre

Examples of evidence are expected to be provided by the tutor with examples of their work showing annotations as to how the requirement has been applied, copies of mock exam with notes showing how the requirement was used by the student and how it improved their work.

I am thinking of generating a form to send out to tutors for them to use as a guide as to what evidence they have to support the application, can anyone think of a better way of putting this evidence together.

Don't mean to be negative but whatever I do I don't see the tutors providing me with anything!
