Hi everyone
We applied for Functional Skills English for a student to be told that the paper had already been oral language modified so an OLM was not appropriate but said that the student could have a reader for the writing paper.
Thanks
Sally

Subject: Oral Language Modifier

Hello All

Has anyone organised for any of their students to use a Modifier in an exam? If so what did you do??

One of my specialist assessors recently attended the PATOSS training event, and our friend Nick Lait was in attendance. If a student is assessed to have good reading abilities and their speed of writing is fine, but they cannot understand the text, we can apply for a Modifier. When questioned about this she was told that a member of staff must attend a course(?) PATOSS apparently offer one, so that they can act as a modifier.

Those in attendance was also told that the JCQ inspections for access arrangements will be starting up again from January.

So sorry if I've spoiled your Wednesday afternoon!

Sara
