Invitation to attend a new one day conference at the Royal Society of Medicine:

The current transformation of public health will have far reaching impacts on both the public and profession for generations to come. In the midst of reorganisation, it is imperative that evidence and the voice of the profession continue to shape a shared vision for public health science.

This conference will showcase talent and creativity within the public health community and highlight new opportunities to bridge the gap between public health evidence, policy and practice. The event will take place on Friday 23 November 2012 and is being organised jointly by The Royal Society of Medicine, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, National Heart Forum, and The Lancet.

Well over 100 abstracts have been received, the best of which will be presented orally on the day (further details here: http://www.rsm.ac.uk/academ/epd01.php). In addition to these spoken sessions, 60 posters spanning the diversity of public health science will be presented, with opportunities to network and debate with lead authors.

In their keynote speeches, Martin McKee and Klim McPherson will share their visions for the future of public health science in the UK, which will be followed by an open discussion.
