Dear All,

Thank you for the many responses on and off the list. I really appreciate the help on this topic. I very much appreciate the generosity of professional knowledge sharing.

I found this just after posting on to the list.  The document refers to the HMCS guidance on adoptions.

http://www.kent.police.uk/about_us/policies/m/documents/M89_Adoption_ACT.pdf

In this are many of the links to legislations and organisations that others recommended.  I hope that it captures much of what was provided so as to help others.

In sum, it would appear that SAR does not cover this issue as other legislation covers access to the information for the person who is adopted.

The details of the new provisions in relation to adoptions both before and after 30th December 2005 are set out in the following regulations which can be accessed by clicking on the links below:

Disclosure of Adoption Information (Post-Commencement Adoptions)

Regulations 2005

Adoption Information and Intermediary Services (Pre-Commencement

Adoptions) Regulations 2005

Adoption Children and Adoption Contact Registers Regulations 2005

Adoptions Agencies Regulations 2005

The various sets of regulations are underpinned by statutory guidance which is

available at www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/adoption

Thanks again for your help. If you need anything from me, just let me know and I will see what I can do to help.

Best,

Lawrence
