PPP varies over time as well as space!

One source is the CIA World Factbook from which data can be found here

http://www.indexmundi.com/g/r.aspx?t=0&v=67&l=en

and here

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/

However there are odd discrepancies as this index suggests that the UK is cheaper than Canada to live in - which is untrue!

A better source of info for OECD countries might be the monthly OECD comparative price level data which handily translates every currency to every currency in the OECD (not just comparative prices by USD) this suggests that Canada is cheaper than the UK (true!)

Can anyone recommend a US$ deflator website showing the amount that international GDP figures from different years must be deflated by to make them comparable.  Of course all GDP figures are customarily given in US$, which make sthe comparison job a little easier, but what I'd like to do is to compare e.g. the per capita GDP of Canada in 1990 (US$ 21,100) with the per capita GDP of France in 2000 (US$ 21,650), to see just how much wealthier 1990 Canada was than 2000 France.  I know there may also be PPP issues but these should be minimised as it will all be OECD countries.

Has anyone done any work on whether the 'international' inflation of the US$ is different from the national US figures, or can one just take a US inflation site?

Many thanks for any suggestions here,

Hillary
