Nordic Geographers' Meeting, 11-14 June 2013.
Session 1: Geographies of Crisis

Since 2008, the combination of financial, economic and other crises has had profound effects on Europe and the wider world. This session focuses on the new geographies that are emerging as a consequence of these crises, and on the ways in which we, as geographers, have responded or might respond. We welcome papers and/or presentations that focus on:
- New/emerging geographies of inequality: e.g. unemployment, poverty, health, wealth
- Crisis mobilities: forced migration, ‘extreme commuting’, forced immobility
- Spatializing crisis: what are the differential spatial effects of the crisis, at local, regional, national and international scales?
- Critical geographies of the crisis: how is the crisis being used to effect political and economic change; what kind of opposition is emerging, and at what scales?
- Public geographies of the crisis: how might geographers engage in public debate on the crisis?

We are particularly interested in facilitating an international discussion on this issue, and therefore welcome submissions from a range of geographical contexts and perspectives. Both papers and suggestions for panel discussion contributions will be accepted.
