Hi Phil,

it may be a completely different problem that you are experiencing, but my team have found this useful, to stop html scrambling in the text editor:

Login as an administrator, and go to Tools and Utilities in the admin panel

Select the 'Text Editor' link and unselect the 'Validate HTML Markup Whenever Users Submits Content' and see if that solves your problem for the moment

Apparently, this is a a short term fix, as Blackboard are planning to release a service pack containing a new content editor to fix that editing weirdness.

Best wishes,

Jill

Interesting you mention it as a problem on Announcements - it seems like the rich text editing for Announcements (and the Send Email tool in Course Tools) behaves differently to the rich text editor used when you're building content items.

Just an observation

We have noticed that on occasion, paste from word can embed something nasty in the HTML that then stops the rest of the page from displaying correctly.

This seems to specifically affect Announcements.

Sadly, asking all our staff not to cut and paste from word would fall on deaf ears.

Subject: Experiences of using the Paste from Word tool

Has anyone had any issues with the Paste from Word mashup tool in 9.1 specifically it not doing as good a job as they would have liked?

Does anyone actively avoid using it?
