I recently had a demo of the SL1000 digital scanner from Covergold. Expensive! £5K but did a lovely job with slides.

Subject: Slide viewers in reading rooms

The University of Leicester’s Special Collections include several collections of 35mm slides and at present we have nothing to view these with. Can list members recommend a low cost slide viewer suitable for use in the reading room? If there is a reasonably priced model that can be used for viewing and creating digital images from slides (and negatives) that would be a bonus.

I’m happy to report back on my findings for anyone who’s interested.

Many thanks,

Simon
