Subject: Prolactin with Anti-Psychotics
Dear All,
I have been approached by a community mental health pharmacist
regarding their guidelines for anti-psychotic prescribing for GPs. He wondered
whether there were any cut-offs in use around the country for action regarding
hyperprolactinaemia in patients receiving these drugs?
Has anyone been involved in determining the level of prolactin
at which to recommend changing medication or the possibility of a concomitant
prolactinoma, in guidelines for prescribers? The BNF recommends regular
testing, but that is about it.
Thanks in advance,
Steph
