Dear All,

Could someone explain to me please the present discrepancy between the reporting units for Troponin I (and T) according to Pathology Harmony, which are as those being recommended for the PBCL 'Standard Unit' - ng/L - versus those applying to the PBCL 'Standardised Format' - ug/L?!

I appreciate, according to the August 2012 PMIP Lab Messaging Audit Report, that the PBCL 'Standard Unit', only recently published, has been 'signed off' by the professional bodies (RCPath, ACB and IBMS), whereas the Standardised Format is applicable where tests are being sent which are not using Read Codes, but we are being encouraged, aren't we, to adopt those according to Pathology Harmony, yet 'must' attach Read Codes to our results, and can't do that unless they're 'still' in the PBCL Standardised Format; so which is correct?

Thanks very much,

Liz
