  I am currently looking into a Hittite purification ritual that involved severing puppies. I have some references on the textual description of the act, such as Collins 1990 which has been a big help, but I'd like to address this ceremony from a zooarchaeological perspective. Is anyone aware of any sites in Turkey where the excavators have found dog remains that seem to reflect this puppy severing ritual? Citations and pdf's are most welcome.
