We have an exciting opportunity at the University of Leeds for a full-time Researcher Skills Training and Development Officer in the Staff and Departmental Development Unit (SDDU).  University Grade: 7 (£30,122 - £35,938 p.a.).  Closing date: 21 October 2012.  Interview/selection date: 6 November 2012.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work primarily with early career researchers in the Faculties of Engineering, Environment and Mathematics and Physical Sciences. The main purpose of this role is to work as a member of the SDDU team to design and deliver training and development in research and professional skills for PhD students and research staff primarily, but not exclusively, in the above Faculties.  With a doctoral qualification in a relevant area, you will have experience of designing, developing and delivering teaching or training in an academic, R&D or similar environment and be able to teach on courses for researchers.  You will understand issues facing researchers in the UK HE sector and personal development planning processes.  With highly developed presentation, facilitation, communication, interpersonal, organisational and IT skills, you will have an enthusiasm for training and development and a commitment to customer service.  Willing and able to work with a range of academic and professional staff, postgraduate research students and research staff, you will be creative, pragmatic in problem-solving and able to deliver on multiple agenda.  A motivated self-starter, who enjoys working in teams and is keen to embrace change, you will have a positive attitude to the University’s values.  Experience of carrying out research in HE in an academic or postdoctoral post would be an advantage as would use of flexible approaches to skills development, including e-learning, and experience of web page creation.  You will be involved personally in the delivery of the majority of skills training courses but will also collaborate with academic colleagues across the Faculties and other training providers.  For full details please go to http://jobs.leeds.ac.uk/fe/tpl_universityofleeds01.asp
