[Apologies for cross posting]

Dear all,

There are still a few places left for the BRISSKit www.brisskit.le.ac.uk community meeting in Leicester on Tuesday 9th October: for anyone interested in supporting or implementing research data management solutions for biomedical research and specifically accessing and managing research database applications via a web browser over JANET or NHS networks.

The main community event is on Tuesday 9th of October followed by a Health Research Hack event, with input from the DevCSI group c/o Mahendra Mahey, on the 10th and 11th of October. Expect pizza for the latter but, as we found out at the recent and highly successful NHS Healthcare Hack Event, these events work best with researchers, managers and clinicians giving input as well as developers working together to get the most out of them! You can sign up to join 70 members so far the in the google group “HealthResearchHack” at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/healthresearchhack.

Registration for these events is free, on a first come first served basis, and participants can request one of the *free* remaining hotel rooms available for overnight stays via [log in to unmask] . An agenda and registration links are provided on the event page.

The community event on 9th October will include presentations and demos from the BRISSKit team, biomedical researchers and pilot groups (both in Leicester and beyond) as well as a keynote from Peter Knight, Deputy Director & Head of Research Information and Intelligence in the Research & Development Directorate at the Department of Health.

Recordings of the training webinar events held in the lead up to these events will be available shortly via the http://www.brisskit.le.ac.uk website. The webinars cover each of the 4 key components in the BRISSKit suite of open source database applications for biomedical research. These range from applications supporting patient recruitment and cohorting, tissue management, patient interviews and how to integrate and query across multiple studies. They will hopefully inform you of what is possible and demo some of the basic functionality.

Thanks

Jonathan
