Dear All,

I have been thinking about the Savile situation and it made me think of the Shaw report in Scotland.  In particular, I was wondering whether the list thought that there might be a need to have an England version of the Shaw report because Savile appears to have targeted children’s homes.

I would be particular interested in the view from our colleagues in Scotland who are busy implementing the legislative changes that came from the Shaw Report.

I have written a blog on this topic [here] if you are interested.

Do you think there is a need for a review? If so, should its terms of reference be the same or different?

Moreover, do you think that archivists and genealogists will become more involved in historical cases such this?

I would be interested in your thoughts on the way the Savile case, at least regarding the allegations around children’s homes, may affect the future of archives.

Best,

Lawrence
