Preparing a grant application for a realist synthesis for Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), I must ensure to meet their specific requirements regarding analyzes by sex and gender. CIHR expects that all research applicants will integrate gender and sex into their research designs when appropriate (http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/32019.html). I recognize that the integration of gender or sex in the analysis about the programs theories or outcomes depends on the subject of the realist review, but I wonder if some of you have already been to integrate these aspects into one of your proposals for a realist synthesis and how you did it?
