Hi Debbie

You might find the attached also helpful, there is something in them about gastrointestinal effects.

Hi Karen,

This attachment is well timed for me, as I need to review a 30 yr old gentleman who has been a paraplegic (since car accident aged 3) and works 12 hour shifts in an ambulance call centre.

He states rotating day shifts with nights is having a detrimental affect upon his health - particularly gastro intestinal system, and affecting the flora of his gut etc...

Thanks

Debbie

Please find new guidance from the RCN attached on shift work. There’s a useful discussion on the 12hr v 8hr shift pattern.

Regards

Karen
