Bias exists not only between different languages, but within the English language literature itself. All the big databases are not only biased towards English language material: most are biased towards the American literature as well. For non-medical subjects such as social science or social care this means that coverage of UK material is often limited to smaller databases. These databases are often pretty clunky to use making effective information retrieval difficult.
