CALL FOR PAPERS: Border Crossings: Transnationality, Citizenship, and Identity in Theory and Practice 2013 ASPECT Graduate Conference Friday, March 22 – Saturday, March 23, 2013 The Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical, and Cultural Thought Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA Conference website: http://www.aspect.vt.edu/ We invite graduate students to submit essays that engage a broad range of topics related to transnationality, citizenship, and identity in theory and practice. In particular, we invite contributions that challenge conventional approaches to these topics, emphasizing scholarly interventions that call attention to unique facets of the subject matter that have yet to be explored in contemporary discourse. Essays that emphasize practical considerations such as public policy, governmental agencies, NGOs, activism, and grassroots projects are also welcome. Interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged, and outstanding papers presented at the conference may be solicited for peer-review and possible publication in SPECTRA, the ASPECT journal. Graduate students at any level of study are encouraged to submit abstracts. Extended Abstract - abstracts should be approximately 450-550 words. Recommended extended abstract content includes, but is not limited to: thesis, objectives, theoretical traditions/framework, methods, data sources, findings/conclusions, and research questions. 4. This will assist conference organizers in determining the assignment of panel sessions if your paper is selected. 5.
