This seminar will report on findings from research carried out with new graduates from a post 1992 University. The research took place during the graduation ceremony week, which occurred 5 months after graduation,
with both 2010 and 2011 graduates. The students came from a variety of academic discipline areas.
The research examines graduate employment outcomes in light of programme, background, degree results and attitudes. Findings from the study highlight in particular:
1. The role of regionalisation in employment choices and success; and
2. The impact of paid work while studying on employment outcomes.
This workshop will report on these findings and consider the implications for curriculum design and the introduction of extra-curricula activities. Workshop participants will be provided with the opportunity
to share their own experiences and discuss strategies to support student success.
