This (below) is from a good friend of ours, Francisco Castaneda, who is the International Officer for USACH in Chile and who is quite heavily involved with the student movement there. As many of you will know, the students of Chile are also involved in an uphill struggle against their government and elites for a meaningful and appropriate education and a say in the future of their country.

Anyone interested (who can read Spanish) could do worse than to follow this blog to find out what’s going on - http://estudiantesporchile.blogspot.co.uk/

aqui en la USACH los alumnos piden TRI-ESTAMENTALIDAD (academics, students and administrative people) in order to take choices even about Curriculum.

The secondary school are calling to non- vote in the next elections....I think they dont feel represented by the political establishment

Subject: Secondary school students in Buenos Aires claim for their participation indecision making

Hi all,

Secondary / high school students in Buenos Aires have just achieved to be included in the discussions about the courses they are being taught. They had been occupying schools all around the city to claim their right to participate in the decision making of school curricula. Maybe, a lesson for the whole world!
