Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP)/Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in Epidemiology or Biostatistics in the Department of Community Medicine and the School of Public Health, from as soon as possible, for a period of two years. 

The appointee will join the Hong Kong Jockey Club Family Project, funded through a large donation by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and focused on developing and evaluating upstream strategies and interventions that will promote societal harmony through families, improve health within families and support individuals throughout the life course by families. Further information about the Department/School can be obtained at http://sph.hku.hk/index.php. The appointee will work with Professor Gabriel M. Leung and the FAMILY Project cohort team.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D. Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related disciplines. They should also have a strong quantitative background; experience in analysis of epidemiological data using R, SAS, STATA, SPSS or other programmes; demonstrated expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets; and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The appointee should have excellent written and oral communication skills and is expected to write scientific publications and assist in writing reports. He/She will be primarily responsible for methodological and applied work in statistical and/or epidemiological research for data in health, happiness and harmony arising from the FAMILY Project - a longitudinal study of 20,000 households (48,000 participants). Those with relevant post-doctoral work experience and an excellent publication track record may be considered for appointment at RAP level and the appointee is expected to take a leading role to oversee the cohort team in research and operations. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Appointment at RAP level will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
