BAFA<http://www.artsfestivals.co.uk/> is the networking and development hub for arts festivals in the UK: a constant and reliable source of new ideas, best practice, advice, advocacy and promotion. As part of the 2012 BAFA Conference for Festivals, which this year will be in London on 8 and 9 November, a new strand is being introduced specifically for students and recent graduates who are looking at a career in the festival sector.

Held at the Southbank Centre on Wednesday 7 November 12.30-5.00pm, this event will focus on all the various jobs that are involved in creating a festival.

Starting with an experienced festival panel including Tania Harrison from Latitude Festival, 'Things I know now - I wish I'd know then ...', the afternoon programme will then break into small groups focussing on specific roles within a festival team. Individually hosted by a broad range of festival staff who will talk about their own career path as well as what their current job entails, there will also, of course, be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Delegates at the afternoon event will be welcome to stay for the welcome tea party with the main conference delegates and participate in the rest of the evenings events which will include a tour of the South Bank, discounted tickets to a performance and a late night supper.

Please pass this information on to relevant students and colleagues. Places are limited so do email us at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> if you have any immediate questions. Whilst the event is aimed at students and recent graduates, lecturers are also most welcome to attend.

Please feel free to print out the attached flyer for distribution or forward this email on.
