Disk Diving: A Born Digital Collections Survey at the Smithsonian | Smithsonian Institution Archives The survey's objective is to locate these born digital materials within the collections, identify a total number of media, and record other important information about each item. This portion of the survey does not include transferring the media onto a computer, but rather, is focused on taking a physical inventory. Those findings are then combined with the questionnaire answers to report on the overall quantity and condition of these items, along with the unit's capacity to handle them, and to determine a plan for how to move on to the next possible phase. http://bit.ly/RM5H2f Source: http://siarchives.si.edu/blog/disk-diving-born-digital-collections-survey-smithsonian?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+si/vrZU+(The+Bigger+Picture)&utm_content=Google+Reader See if people are clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/RM5H2f+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: http://bitly.com/pages/sidebar -- Peter Kurilecz CRM CA [log in to unmask] Richmond, Va http://twitter.com/RAINbyte http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAINbyte/ http://paper.li/RAINbyte/rainbyte http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/archives/ http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/records-management/ http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterakurilecz Information not relevant for my reply has been deleted to reduce the electronic footprint and to save the sanity of digest subscribers To view the list archives go to: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK To unsubscribe from this list, send an email to [log in to unmask] with the words UNSUBSCRIBE RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK For any technical queries re JISC please email [log in to unmask] For any content based queries, please email [log in to unmask]
