Dear Psychosocial colleagues,

Since we last wrote to you the BSA has unfortunately withdrawn its offer of a dedicated ‘Sociology, psychoanalysis and the psychosocial’ stream at the 2013 conference.  We hasten to add that we will still have a dedicated ‘sub-stream’ which, as in 2012, will be located in the ‘Open’ stream and will be clearly identified as such in the programme.  You should therefore continue to submit abstracts and panel proposals, clearly indicating at the top of your submission that you wish it to be considered within the ‘Sociology, psychoanalysis and psychosocial grouping of the Open stream’.  Full details are available at the conference website:

 http://www.britsoc.co.uk/events/bsa-annual-conference/submissions.aspx

(Note the last date for submission of abstracts is 5th October, 2012)

The association has been extremely apologetic about this reversal and assures us the reason for it is purely technical (it appears the original decision was not ratified according to proper procedures).  Although we are not happy about the situation, the 2013 conference continues to be an excellent opportunity for researchers with interests in sociology, psychoanalysis and the psychosocial to present papers on their work and to get together for a sustained conversation throughout the conference.  We look forward to seeing you there.

With our very best regards,

Subject: We have a stream!

Dear Psychosocial Colleagues,

We are delighted to let you know that the British Sociological Association Sociology, Psychoanalysis and the Psychosocial Study Group has been granted a full stream at the 2013 BSA Conference. The conference will be taking place at the Connaught Rooms in central London from 3-5 April 2013.

So, this is an excellent opportunity for researchers with interests in sociology, psychoanalysis and the psychosocial to present papers on their work and to get together for a sustained conversation throughout the conference. Please do consider submitting a proposal for a paper – or for a roundtable, panel or workshop. The deadline is 5 October 2013. For more information about the conference and submitting abstracts:

Have a good summer!

Best wishes
