Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is a successful provider of mental health and learning disability services with ambitions to be the leading provider in the country. We are already delivering services as far afield as Norfolk and North Essex as well as for the population of Hertfordshire. We are currently embarking on a major transformation programme that will change the way that we deliver our services

 

We require a motivated and enthusiastic psychology graduate to work as a Research Assistant (0.5 FTE for six months) for the People with Asperger Syndrome and Anxiety (PAsSA) Treatment Trial. The PAsSA Trial is a multi-centre trial of cognitive behavioural therapy for people with Asperger Syndrome who have difficulties with anxiety funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and awarded to Dr Peter Langdon (University of East Anglia), Professor Glynis Murphy (University of Kent) and their colleagues. The successful applicant will be employed by Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust-Norfolk but will be based within the Department of Psychological Sciences, Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. Norfolk is one of the most beautiful counties in England with a wide diversity of landscapes including the Broads, sandy beaches, heathland forests and urban areas such as Norwich. There are also a number of attractive market towns and villages and it is a beautiful place to live. Car driver essential, or access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995). This post is a fixed term position for six months at 0.5 FTE.

 

Candidates should write a short piece on "Could you please explain why people with autistic spectrum conditions may be at risk of developing anxiety disorders" which should be no more than 500 words long. This must be included at the very beginning of your supporting statement, and clearly marked as such. Applications not including this will not be considered.
