This morning it whirls around the room and doesn't shit on my head. I sit drinking coffee, a second cup, and feel soothed by a hope I cannot believe but only accept, watching "Gladiator" where a man's dual hopes are vengeance and a journey toward his family, an Odysseus sailing toward his own death and rebirth. I have died more than once, and yet emerge with my feathers shiny, still in place, awaiting the call to fly yet again, so long and high as they will bear me. KW
