Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Invitation for GPs to the workplace

Thanks for all the good advice.

I am based in Yeovil at a global aerospace company – the majority of the employees live in Yeovil so I am looking at targeting about 9 Surgeries all together and really hoping for a good uptake.  If not, I do like the idea of attending practice training sessions (which hadn’t occurred to me), or sending out flyers.

Thanks again,

Catherine

This could work well if your employee population is local but in many businesses you could be talking about a 60 mile plus radius.  For a business in the centre of Bristol which is where I am based, you would potentially have to contact all the GPs in the city and the surrounding towns.  Each GP may only have a very few employees on their books so wouldn’t consider it worthwhile on that basis alone.

Thanks

Lindsey

Sandra Neylon did this very successfully when she was the OH Provider for Tate and Lisle. They got a much better understanding of the role of OH. I don’t think she is currently a subscriber to JISC so unlikely that she will respond.

Hi all,

I am looking to build relationships with local GPs in particularly to improve their awareness of the work environment and to make them aware of the company alternative work policy and adjustments that can be made for employees returning to work and remaining at work.

I intend to do this by inviting them onsite for a tour of the factory and following this organizing a meeting with HR/OH and H&S.

Does anybody have any experience of this? If so, I would be interested to know if it was successful.

Regards,

Catherine
