medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Last Saturday's ODNB Life of the Day was John Gillingham's (very positive
and closely argued) biography of Richard I [called Richard Coeur de Lion,
Richard the Lionheart] (1157-1199), king of England, duke of Normandy and
of Aquitaine, and count of Anjou. Chiefly of interest to this list because
of his part in the Third Crusade and his patronage of ecclesiastical
foundations, plus interesting light shed on the political use of Fontevrault
Abbey.
