Primary Research Group has published Corporate & Business Library Benchmarks, 2013 Edition, ISBN 157440-210-2.

The 230 page study looks closely at the spending patterns and management practices of corporate libraries, and non-corporate business libraries such as those of MBA programs and trade associations. The study helps corporate and other business librarians to answer questions such as: how do business librarians monitor social media for their organizations? How much do they spend on databases, journals, books, eBooks and other information vehicles and what have been and will be the trend in spending? What about spending benchmarks per employee? What are trends in librarian salaries and benefits? Which organizations are moving towards virtual libraries? How are the libraries using tablet computers? How useful do the librarians find YouTube, Facebook, Quora, Twitter and other internet sites and vehicles?

Just a few of the report’s many findings are that:
•	40 percent of corporations that participated in the study with revenues at least $5 billion have virtual libraries.
•	Non-corporate libraries each employ an average of 9.27 technical & clerical employees, as compared to a mean of 2.94 for corporate libraries.
•	Exactly half of all survey participants say their respective organizations have neither lost nor gained any FTE positions in their libraries over the past two years.
•	Corporate/Business Libraries with fewer than 5 employees spent a mean of $58,492 per employee for salaries.
•	One third of libraries sampled said that librarians control decision-making on materials acquisitions “virtually 100% of the time”.
•	The libraries in the sample spent a mean of $56,174 per full time library employee.
•	An average of 66.36 percent of the databases licensed to the libraries in our sample allow for company-wide access for all white-collar employees.
•	eBook spending is still less than half the level of spending on print books.
