New Perspectives on Freud and Psychoanalysis

A workshop to celebrate the 75th birthday of Professor Edward Timms 
OBE, FBA

The Centre for German-Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex and 
the Austrian Cultural Forum will hold an international workshop on 
`Freud and Psychoanalysis´ in honour of the 75th birthday of Professor 
Edward Timms. As the founder of the Centre for German Jewish Studies at 
Sussex, Edward Timms is best known for his research on the Jews of 
Vienna in the early twentieth century.

Developing an innovative research methodology which involves the 
mapping of circles of intellectual creativity in diagrammatic form, 
Timms´ work has inspired a new generation of scholars to seek out new 
ways of thinking about the life and work of leading intellectuals such 
as Sigmund Freud. This workshop will bring together leading scholars to 
discuss Freud´s work within the tradition set out by Edward Timms.
