Active Aging and Solidarity between Generations 2012

Background

NIACE and Age UK are joining forces to promote learning across the life course to encourage all to make the most of learning opportunities and to use them to enhance their lives and the lives of their families and communities.

 

At this conference, Mary Honeyball, Member of the European Parliament will run a session on European policy and funding for learning in the context of the European Year 2012 Active Ageing and Solidarity between generations.

 

The key themes for discussion are:

·         Older people and learning for employment

·         Older people’s participation in learning

·         Career review during the life course

·         Approaches to learning in the pre-retirement life phase

·         Intergenerational work and active citizenship learning

 

 

This conference aims to bring together people with a keen interest in older people’s learning to explore and discuss:

·         new findings about older people’s participation in learning

·         the role that learning plays in developing solidarity between the generations and the inclusion of older people

·         options for improving working and learning for older people

·         the opportunity of a mid-life career review

·         options for pre-retirement learning for all; and
