Apols to my Scottish and Northern Irish colleagues but this is for England and Wales only…

Dear All

The Digital practitioner awards, part of our “Innovating Learning” conference, are now open for nominations at http://www.niace.org.uk/campaigns-events/events/digital-practitioner-awards-information

Please see the description below and circulate widely:

[Digital Practitioner Awards 2012]
The past twelve months have seen many changes in our sector, but none more so than in the field of technology. As the techno-pace hots up, there always seems to be one person who remains undaunted and manages to use technology to make more of their learning & teaching, improve it or just deliver it differently. Many teachers or tutors, probably including some that you know, are going that extra mile to improve things for learners and staff by using technology to make learning more inclusive, more engaging or just delivered in a more innovative way. Now we’ve teamed up with LSIS and the SFA to give that person some recognition, through the digital practitioner award
Can you nominate a professional teacher or tutor who teaches adults in England & Wales who

Use technology in their teaching & learning to:

  * Make learning more inclusive or
  * Widen participation in learning or
  * Make learning more engaging or
  * Deliver learning in a different way

• Applications must also include inspirational stories of
• How the teacher achieved this change or
• How a teacher went beyond the call of duty to implement innovation / technology or
• The positive and inspiring impact this had on learner(s) during or after their sessions
Evidence could include learner or staff testimony, impact measures or statistical analysis, learning content produced or other outcomes, presented either in a traditional application form or presented using digital or rich media (for example, a video of learner testimony, or a website that learners produced)
The winners will receive a free ticket for them and their nominator to attend our “Innovating Learning” conference in Manchester on December 4, 2012 and will be presented with certificate and a £300 amazon.co.uk voucher, in a ceremony following the conference
Awards will be judged by a panel of their peers and will be presented in the following categories
1. Outstanding Digital Practitioner (3 awards) (Sponsored by LSIS)
2. Special Award for Technology in Offender Learning (Supported by the Skills Funding Agency’s Virtual Campus Project)
