I would not recommend it. My daughter Victoria goes by the name Toy. It might be cute now but when applying to become (fill in serious profession) it might not be so cute. Having said that my husband who rarely uses his first given name and is generally known by his second would have no problem with that nor would be any future employer. I think you just have to be sensible in addressing this. Our college register their full names on enrolment.
