Dear EBS & ECD Colleagues:

A number of people have enquired about gaining access to the Children’s Physical Environments Rating Scale (CPERS).  I am happy to advise that Ver 5 is now available free and on-line through the world’s largest educational facilities clearing house, ACEF, run by the US Department of Education.  You should be able to access it in a few days via their website at www.acefacilities.org

The most comprehensive paper written on the scale, detailing its reliability and validity, was published in Children, Youth and Environments, Vol 17(4), 2007, pp 24-53, and is also available on-line at http://www.colorado.edu/journals/cye.

Please feel free to pass the information to anyone you think might like to use the scale for research or for the evaluation of child care, preschool, kindergarten and other early childhood education facilities.  If you have feedback on the scale, or if we can be of assistance, please drop me an email.

All the best from another sunny day in Sydney,

gary
