Research Associate/Co-ordinator
Salary Range: £28,200 - £40,720 p.a.
Applications are invited to join the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology located at the St Mary’s campus, Paddington. The Department is based within a five star research institute equipped with the latest technologies and facilities.
The Centre for Patient Experience Research (CPER) was established in 2011 with funding from the Imperial NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The multidisciplinary Centre is a core facility of the BRC, and carries out research work to directly benefit patients and the local population, by enabling research findings to be rapidly translated into evidence-based initiatives to improve patient experience and transform care. The CPER is led by Professor Helen Ward and Professor Sophie Day who are pursuing health research that integrates different tools from clinical practice, epidemiology and anthropology in particular. Our current work includes
• Primary research into patient experience and social factors associated with health and health care, including research into methods for the measurement of experience, outcomes and quality of care
• Advice and training for clinical researchers on social and epidemiological aspects of their work
• Specific studies currently include patient experience in maternity, sexual health and cancer services, adherence to medication, secondary analysis of data on patient experience and outcomes.

The Research Associate/Co-ordinator combines two key roles for the CPER
1. Primary research
2. Co-ordination and management of the overall programme of work
The post-holder spends approximately half their time on each role.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in social or health science (e.g. anthropology, psychology, health services research, public health, epidemiology) and a track record of successful research i.e. experience of designing, conducting, analysing and reporting high quality research.
This post is full time and fixed term until 30 September 2014 in the first instance.
