Closure of the Balfour Museum in Winchester

Sadly the Balfour Museum of Red Cross History in Hampshire is closing down and the collection is being dispersed.  We are therefore looking for new homes for the objects and archive.

The collection consists of medals, badges, medical equipment, uniform, photographs and archival material relating to the Red Cross from the last 100 years.  A large proportion of the collection relates to the World Wars and is of the type of material that would have been used by Red Cross personnel throughout the world.

The items are available to be used either as part of a museums main collection or can become part of a handling or schools loan collection.  Ideally the items will be transferred permanently, however long term loans can be discussed on a case by case basis.

If you would be interested in acquiring any material or would like more information please contact Sarah Cooper, Museum Project Assistant.
