Dear all,

This is just another reminder that registration and abstract submission is open for the Postgraduate Zooarchaeology Forum (PZAF) which will take place on 3rd-4th November 2012 at the University of Sheffield, UK. The deadline for abstract submission for oral presentations and posters is 1st October. The registration deadline is 19th October.

We are also very happy to announce that the proceedings of the conference will be published as a special issue of Assemblage - the Sheffield Graduate Journal of Archaeology (http://www.assemblage.group.shef.ac.uk/journal). This is our very own peer-reviewed journal here in Sheffield.

PZAF provides a friendly forum for postgraduates (both Masters and PhD) and early career zooarchaeology researchers to present their research and to meet and socialise with others in a similar position. Previous PZAF meetings have included a conference style event at Cardiff University in 2009, and a speed-networking event at the last ICAZ conference in Paris in 2010. Both events were a great success.

The conference is held in November in order to maximise the number of new postgraduate students who can benefit from attending the event. In particular, this timing will allow recent Masters students an opportunity to present their completed dissertation research, while also accommodating new PhD candidates in the early stages of their work. In addition to the academic aspect of this event, PZAF is also dedicated to networking, and opportunities to socialise in an informal environment will also be on the agenda. Optional social gatherings for dinner and drinks will take place on Saturday night, and a field trip around Sheffield is scheduled for Sunday.

Every effort has been made to keep costs to a minimum, and the event has a £10 registration fee. This fee will cover tea and coffee, Saturday lunch, and a wine reception in the evening.  Accommodation, where possible, can be arranged with Sheffield postgraduate students.

More information can be found at our webpage: http://www.shef.ac.uk/archaeology/research/zooarchaeology-lab/pzaf

We would be especially grateful if you could pass on the information to students that might be interested, especially Masters students who may not yet be on the Zooarch mailing list. A poster is available to download from the webpage.

Many Thanks,

The Sheffield Zooarchaeology Team
