think you can only do that by running some kind of rotating checkerboard wedge during fMRI acquisition, and analyze phase reversals individually in a flatmap (for example using caret) and segment according to that. That is how most vision neuroscientists do it. To my knowledge there are no clear anatomical boundaries for primary visual areas, you can only do this functionally.

I do not see an accurate way to do this based on a template label.

But perhaps others with more experience can comment on that.

Thank you for your kind advice. The thing with WFU_Pickatlas is that it doesn't have anatomical labels for lower level visual cortex sub-regions and my primary interest lies in identifying/locating V2/3. Besides, I assume that the masks created using WFU_Pickatlas are based on stereotactic space such as MNI or Talaraich but I need to define such anatomical ROIs based on individual subject's anatomical information.  So how should I proceed?
