Dear Users,

I'm having a problem with designing an event-related fMRI experiment: subjects have to recognize facial emotions from different emotional faces (happy, fearful, sad, neutral). The easiest way would be to randomize all emotional valences within one run, e.g. 30xhappy, 30xfearful, 30xsad, 30xneutral. In this case, however, I would have 30 positive and 60 negative emotions, which could bear a problem for greater habituation of negative stimuli? I think it is important to have equal numbers of all stimuli overall, isn't it? How would you solve this problem? Thank you for your suggestions.

Regards,

Rainer
