Dear Yass,

normally I do not comment on someone's study goals, but now it is too hard to resist.

ICA and GLM are completely different approaches answering completely different research questions about brain function. Why compare the respective results images directly? I cannot think of one useful way to do that. What purpose does that serve? ICA results aren't really activation maps to begin with, but higher dimensional structures best explaining your data.

To me comparing ICA components with GLM activation maps makes as much sense as comparing South African stock prices with the reproduction habits of an amoeba.

Perhaps you have much more detailed comparison in mind that makes sense, and then I apologize beforehand. Love to hear it though.

I'm sorry when I'm sounding pompous... I sincerely hope you can find a way to get your explorations on the right track.

Good luck,

Bas

Dear all,

I am trying to compare the GLM method with others such as ICA and Hybrid methods. In order to do that, I would like to compare the activation maps produced by these methods.

How can I can access the results of SPM (SPM.mat) in a normalized and automatic way to be compared with others activations with a similarity index or something ? Knowing that ICA results will come from another software …

I am a beginner in this topic so any help is welcome !

Thank you very much  !

Yass JD.
