Hello Cath, Regarding the pacemaker problem. Before I became OH Adviser, I worked on ITU - cardiology. When somebody had inserted a pacemaker, there reason for it was quite serious, e.g. the heart rate was very slow, very fast or any other serious issue with the heart conduction pathways. So there is a high risk that if the patient pacemaker function is disturb, they may have a cardiac arrest. Every patient who had inserted a pacemaker was provided with a booklet and a pacemaker registration card which the patient had to carry with them all the time in the events they would be exposed to magnetic field; they may trigger alarms in security doors (very often it happens at the airports) etc. Maybe, it would be a good idea to request from the client to see his cardiologist papers/booklets so it will give you some idea to what they should not be exposed to. Also, The British Heart Foundation can provide you with a lot of information: www.bhf.org.uk or the Heart Information Line: tel: 08450 70 80 70 - an information service for the public and health professionals on issues relating to heart health. I hope this will be helpful.
