I have good shots of pilgrims at shrines, as depicted in the St William window at York and, here to the shrine of Becket, at Cantebury. They're not en route but they are vivid illustrations of the scene 'when one got there'. Happy to supply if you wish; in both cases the cathedral concerned may also require acknowedgement. I'm working with a community history/archaeology group in Cwmbran, near the Cistercian abbey of Llantarnam. The group has done some very useful resarch on the history of the abbey and its lands. They now have a grant to provide a digital heritage trail including part of the pilgrimage route from Llantarnam to the shrine of the Virgin Mary at Penrhys. For this they are trying to find illustrations of medieval pilgrims - preferably free to use. Do any list members have photographs (I am thinking particularly of Gordon's wonderful stained glass photos! but we are of course open to all sorts of ideas) that they would allow the group to use, properly acknowledged?
