Cowboys or Indies? 30 Years of Public Service Broadcasting and Independents

To tie in with 30 years of Channel 4 and the independent sector this conference will bring together key industry figures from the television and digital media independent sector with leading academics to explore the role of Indies in public service broadcasting over the past years and for its multiplatform future.

The team behind this conference, Dr James Bennett (Royal Holloway, University of London), Dr NIki Strange (University of Sussex), Paul Kerr (London Metropolitan University) and Dr Andrea Medrado (Royal Holloway, University of London) have been working for two years on a research project looking at 'Multiplatforming Public Service Broadcasting' and the cultural and economic role of the independent sector.  
 
An industry report which presents the findings and recommendations from this research project, and from a survey of Pact members undertaken by the team in partnership with Pact, will be launched at the conference. 
 
Tickets to the conference are priced at £20 full price and £10 for students, including tea/coffee, lunch, a drinks reception and complimentary copy of the industry report.

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership.
