Successful fundraising for preservation and conservation

Free workshop, 4 October 2012
British Library Centre for Conservation, 96 Euston Road, London NW1 2DB

* apologies for cross-posting *

Competition for funding has never been greater. How can you make your preservation and conservation projects appeal to funders? How can you include funding for preservation and conservation as part of wider bids?

This Preservation Advisory Centre workshop explains how to include conservation and preservation activities in funding bids. It covers the type of information to include, how to generate that information, and how to prepare briefs for external conservators and specify surveys. Guidance is provided on what funders are looking for in applications and discussion sessions draw on group experience to encourage fresh approaches to fundraising.

Speakers come from The National Archives, The Wellcome Trust, the independent sector and the Preservation Advisory Centre. Together they have a wealth of experience of sourcing funds, preparing applications, conservation consultancy, reviewing applications and grant-giving.

This is a highly interactive workshop. Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come’ basis. Participants must send a 250-300 word summary of the project or activity for which they are fund-raising a week in advance of the workshop – you will be asked for this once your place has been confirmed. The summary forms the basis for practical sessions throughout the day during which participants are encouraged to discuss and share their work.
