UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM - RESEARCH FELLOW REQUIRED TO LEAD COPD SCREENING TRIAL: closing date 20th August (post number 46999)

This is a minimum 12 month post for a relatively experienced researcher to be part of a newly developing team working on TargetCOPD; an NIHR funded programme of work to improve the diagnosis and management of COPD in primary care. The post-holder is expected to take a lead role in the co-ordination and management of a case-finding RCT within 56 general practices. The researcher appointed will work to the programme manager and with other members of the programme team. He/she will manage a team of field workers and oversee all aspects of the trial, as well as contributing to data analysis and some of the fieldwork if necessary. They will work with the programme manager and investigators to develop the methodology/practical aspects of the trial, liaise with appropriate University staff and NHS staff in the practices and hospitals. The appointed research fellow will also be expected to assist with other aspects of the programme (eg data entry, administrative tasks) as required by the programme manager at times of high workload. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the writing of publications for peer-reviewed journals, presentation at conferences, development of new research ideas, and the departmental teaching load.
