Dear BoB National Administrators,

I am pleased to say the recording facility and thumbnails were restored to the service at midday. The problem was caused by a corrupted connection with the media server which has now been corrected. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the extended period of maintenance. 

Some institutions using Shibboleth have reported an access error as below. We have reported this to Eduserve but if you are experiencing these problems it would be worth updating your uk fed metadata to be sure your users aren't being directed to a cached certificate. Please let me know if the problem persists.

Dear BoB National Administrator,

Following on from my earlier message, you will see that 95% of the service is back up and running as normal. There are now just a few issues that need to be straightened out and our developers are continuing to work on them, but just so that you are aware:

Authentication: At present, if you are not using a WAYFless URL you will be prompted to enter you institution twice before being redirected to your login page.

Thumbnails: Thumbnails and stills are currently not displaying. This does not mean that the programme is not there - to check, click on the programme link to be taken to the flash player. Let us know if it is still transcoding from any date before Saturday 18th August. 

Recording: You may encounter an error when setting up a new recording, if you need to record something urgently, please email the details to [log in to unmask] 

I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause , I will update you with news on these issues in the morning.
