X! cannot be a confounder of Y, X1 might confound the relation of X2 and Y but a confounding variable is one whose effect on the outcome cannot be separated from that of another variable.

Subject: Re: Confounders and logistic regression

Hi,

I have a question. Suppose I have 4 variables Y, X1, X2 and X3. They are all categorical.

How do I determine if X1 is a confounder of Y?

Secondly, if I want to do a logistic regression and X1 is a confounder of Y, how do I carry outa logistic regression say.

Jim.
