As a Research Assistant, your role will be to support association analyses for large scale datasets. These could include genome-wide association studies or resequencing studies, or risk modelling for verified discoveries, with a particular focus on cardiovascular and respiratory traits. You will also be expected to undertake independent research that contributes to new intellectual understanding, under direct supervision and guidance.

If appointed to the higher grade, you will be expected to develop and carry out independent research, contributing as a team member to the wider program of research led by Prof. Martin Tobin. This will involve leading the development of new methodological approaches for genetic epidemiology studies, playing a role in the design and development of new studies, leading modest-scale research projects and playing a key role in international consortia for genetic epidemiology. Current research projects include re-sequencing and large-scale genome-wide association studies for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Professor Martin Tobin on [log in to unmask] or 0116 229 7270.

The closing date for this post is midnight on 20th September 2012.

We anticipate that interviews will take place on 9 October 2012.
