Hi Pam,
I briefly looked into archiving digital data a few weeks ago,
and found three main repositories - the ADS based in York, tDAR based
in the states and Open Context. I've included links below. I'd be
interested to know if anyone deposits data with any other
repositories,
Best wishes
Fay

Hi
Yes! tDAR are a well respected and growing group that effectively
archives digital data sets, especially zooarchaeology. We are collaborating
closely with them to get N Atlantic data sets uploaded and archived (see
www.nabohome.org and
herc.ws.gc.cuny.edu for more details) and
would urge others to do the same. For lots more information and data check the
official website at:

best

Hi all
I ran across this and was wondering if anyone has heard of/knows anything
about this:
The
Digital Archaeological Record (tDAR) is the digital repository of Digital
Antiquity, a collaborative organization devoted to enhancing preservation and
access to digital records of archaeological investigations. tDAR is a
national/international digital repository for archaeological information,
including databases, reports, images, and other kinds of archaeological
information. This project has the dual objectives of advancing archaeologists'
ability to engage in synthetic and comparative research and to maintain the
long-term utility and accessibility of irreplaceable data in the face of
inadequate metadata and rapidly changing technology.
cheers
